Water turbines (Hydraulic turbines) - Summery by Mukhtar Adan

Hydraulic turbines : is a prime mover that uses the energy of the flowing water and converts it into the mechanical energy.
This type of energy source is a renewable source which is free from environmental pollution ,  and can be classified into two types according to the head and quantity of water available and they are
1- Impulse turbine : works in the high head of water and small quantity of flow,  and the Pelton turbine is an real example of Impulse turbines.
2-Reaction turbine : works with the low head of water and large flow , and the Francis and  Kalpan turbines are real examples of reaction turbines.

1::: Pelton turbines :

Is an impulse turbine which converts the pressure energy of water into kinetic energy, when forms the high velocity jet of water with can drive the wheel , and consists of the following parts :
A)  Roter   B)  Nozzle.  C) A needle spear       D) Buckets.    E) Runner    F) Brake nozzle   G) Casing
